Launched in Spring 2018, Salon ‘18 was a pilot public programme of talks, workshops and artist 1:2:1’s for Bloc Projects, Sheffield. Unfolding in terms, the entirely free and multidisciplinary nature of the Salon ‘18 programme looked to strengthen an organisational commitment to local professional development, elicit conversation and nurture cross-sector learning.

Responding to feedback from local artists, the free Salon programme welcomed a breadth of innovative and passionate contributions, necessarily placing an emphasis on underrepresented individuals in the arts who had defied the odds to develop and maintain extraordinary and urgent practices within disciplines which included sculpture, textile design, activism, curating, creative writing and performance.
